Side by Side: Guiding Principle in Achieving SDGs

“Human Security has been a very important, central concept that guides Japan’s development cooperation over the past two decades. It is the right of people to live with freedom and dignity; free from poverty and despair,” says Prof. Akihiko Tanaka, President of the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies and former President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

In this video, Prof. Tanaka is joined by University Professor Jeffrey Sachs of Columbia University to discuss Japan’s development cooperation efforts by working side by side with local communities to achieve sustainable development.
