Felipe Larraín, Minister of Finance of Chile

“On behalf of the Government of Chile, I am writing to nominate Professor Jeffrey David Sachs to the position of President of the World Bank. Professor Sachs is a world renowned expert of development, one of the leading voices in the fight against poverty throughout the world and a leader on the Millennium Development Goals. As a scholar, he has written extensively on a wide array of subjects on development economics. In addition, there are few people with so much hands-on experience as advisor to dozens of governments and international organizations… I have had the privilege of knowing Jeffrey Sachs for the last 30 years, and cannot think of a more qualified person to lead an extremely diverse organization that aims to promote development around the world as the World Bank.”
